How to stay motivated

Even though this is a lifestyle plan, it is important to stay on track as much as possible for these first twelve weeks to make some progress and really give yourself a good kick start. But, moments of weakness are natural and if you start to lack motivation then here are my Top Tips to stay motivated:

Pin a picture of yourself at your best up somewhere you can see it everyday

It’s important not to compare yourself to others, you are unique as is your body, so strive to be the best version of yourself and if you have something to remind you of what that is, all the better.

Positive affirmations

Speaking and thinking positively about your health and fitness journey is key. Try not to talk negatively about yourself; I’m so fat, I wish I had thinner thighs, this is hard work, all conjure up negative thoughts and will not serve you well. Try saying things like; I am getting fitter, I feel great, I like the way I look. The more you do this the better you will feel about yourself and the more motivated you will be to carry on.

Follow inspirational people

We are so lucky these days to have a vast amount of inspiration right at our fingertips; from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, You Tube and Fitness Bloggers, find whoever inspires you and follow them daily. One of the main attractions about social media stars is that the best ones try and keep it real, showing you that they too have bad days and are far from perfect, but the majority of the time they will help to motivate you and keep you going when the going gets tough!

Keep in touch with others who are doing the plan

If you haven’t already, get yourself set up on Facebook and Instagram and follow my pages where you can interact with me and other mums doing the plan. Not only will you be able to ask each other questions and compare notes, but a support network will keep you motivated.

Give yourself a goal

Having a goal to aim for will make you more focused and on track. Do you have a special event such as a wedding, birthday party, or summer festival to aim for? If not, book yourself and your friends tickets to something special and aim for that date as a goal post to reach a target point. Be realistic with your goals and the time frame, if they are too far out of reach then you will be disappointed if you don’t get there.
